New figures show that Made in Britain’s construction and building product members, which includes TuffX, are now worth around £5.5bn to the UK economy.
TuffX became an official member of Made in Britain, the trademark for manufacturing excellence, in 2024. It has continued to support its initiatives, including the ‘Green Growth Programme’ which helps UK manufacturers to be as sustainable as possible.
Made in Britain is a not-for-profit organisation which supports manufacturers and works to educate businesses about the benefits of British-made products. It now has 471 certified businesses in the construction and building products sector. This growth in membership represents a combined annual turnover of £2.2 billion, though this figure is worth more than double that to the wider UK economy.
Made in Britain aims to communicate the social value of using construction and building products made in the UK. These benefits include job creation and supporting local communities around manufacturing sites. There are multiple sustainability advantages, as products travel much shorter distances, reducing carbon emissions. UK manufacturers also deliver crucial economic stability in the event of overseas supply chain disruption.
To highlight this value, Made in Britain has launched an Environmental & Social Value (ESV) Certification for members like TuffX to use. It shows the fundamental role UK manufacturers play in driving sustainable growth and social impact, and can be used by members and their clients in competitive tenders and bids.
