What is the Green Growth Programme?
Initiated by Made In Britain, the Green Growth Programme is an effective way to guide and monitor UK manufacturers to make significant changes to their sustainability efforts.
The Green Growth Assessment is a free tool integrated into the Made in Britain member area. It allows us to evaluate our current sustainability status and identify areas for improvement.
Reducing greenhouse gas emissions, switching to renewable energy, and selling eco-friendly products not only help businesses source and sell more but also prevent harmful environmental impacts.
Understanding the challenges that the manufacturing industry faces, including supply chain interruptions, political uncertainties, economic fluctuations, and rising energy prices, the program provides useful tools and resources to assist companies in overcoming these obstacles and improving their sustainable practices.
Our Involvement
So, what exactly does that mean for TuffX? Well, as a business that provides high-quality glass products for trade, we want to make sure our ethos is aligned with the best intentions for the planet as well as our customers.
By joining the MIB movement, we’re committing to:

After completing the MIB industry-leading assessment, developed in partnership with Cambridge Judge Business School, we achieved an excellent score of 46%, or 3 out of 5 stars, for our eco-friendly efforts. Upon completion, we were awarded the Green Growth Programme badge on our profile showcasing our commitment to the cause.
However, our work is only just beginning, and we will continue to receive tailored guidance and resources to improve our sustainable practices as a business. As the UK government aims for every business to be net zero by 2050 in the COP26 targets, joining this initiative is helping us advance in our strategy to reach this goal.

Within our business, we’ve already started leading the way to innovative, green glass manufacturing. Our low-carbon glass, designed to reduce carbon emissions and increase the use of recycled materials, will revolutionise future design.
With a carbon footprint of less than 42%, low-carbon glass for balustrades helps us take immense strides toward expanding infrastructure without compromising the health of the planet.
Toughened and laminated low-carbon glass is up to five times stronger than standard glass, making it a go-to choice for tradespeople who are looking for something that is both durable and sustainable.
We’ve also introduced our GLOW heated glass, which combines the latest technology with high-quality glass to improve the thermal efficiency of residential and commercial buildings.
GLOW Heated Glass incorporates a sealed unit layered with intelligent, invisible conductive coatings. These coatings are electrically heated, converting electric power into radiant heat to warm up a building’s interior. The glass also boasts an impressive U-value of 0.7 m²/K.
This glass emits less carbon compared to traditional heating systems, aligning with eco-friendly practices under the Made In Britain initiative.
