Product Information

The infinity framed Roof lights help to increase the flow of natural light within indoor spaces, whilst being low-maintenance with excellent thermal insulation and light transmission.

The glass that we use in our rooflights is an energy efficient glass which is designed to prevent heat escaping out through your rooflight to the cold outdoors.

Aluminium Framed Flat Roof lights

The Aluminium Frame features a thermal break which creates an insulated barrier and minimises the transfer of heat and cold, therefore reducing condensation and improving energy efficiency.

Why Choose Rooflights

One of the best ways to bring in extra light to your home is by finding a way to allow for more sunshine. In many cases, this is achieved by installing new windows. For some houses, this cannot be done for a number of reasons. For example, you may not have the space or they’re too expensive. However, opting for a rooflight is perfect for any room in the house, and will allow you to gain a lot more light from outside. They can also save you money on utility bills, as you’ll no longer need to light a room using electricity during the day time.

Roof lights can be installed in kitchens, bedrooms, or any room that you think will benefit from more natural daylight. Get in touch with our team today to find out more.

Rooflights vs. Skylights & Roof Windows

We all want our home to be well lit and welcoming, which is why installing rooflights is the perfect solution. Increasing the use of glazing in your home is an efficient way to improve a space and make it seem more inviting. But what exactly is the difference between a rooflight, a skylight and a roof window?

Well, for one, they’re all great options for letting in the sunshine and improving the overall feel and look of your home. Although the terminology for rooflights and sky lights can be interchangeable, flat roof windows are different in terms of their functionality. Roof windows are designed so that they have the same orientation as the roof it’s installed in (for example Velux windows).

Rooflights can only be fitted onto flat roofs because they must be fitted on level with the tiles on your roof. However, if you do not have a flat roof there are other options like skylights and roof lanterns, which have the same effect as rooflights but you do not need a flat roof to have these installed.

If you are interested in a rooflight that you can walk on, there are options for you. You can order a bespoke design, with which we will use toughened and durable glass to achieve a rooflight that you can walk on.

The terms rooflights, skylights and roof lanterns are often used interchangeably. However, there are a few key differences between these three options for roof windows.

Rooflights are a window that is fitted onto your roof, and it is level with your tiles. Whilst a skylight is a window that is fitted onto your roof, it noticeably sticks out from the rest of the roof and can be fitted onto roofs that are not flat. However, rooflights and skylights have the same effect as each other. As they both upgrade your home, allow more natural light and heat into your home and create the illusion that the room it is fitted in is larger than it actually is.

Roof lanterns are different to both rooflights, as lanterns are a glass structure that has multiple windows attached together. Lanterns are significantly larger than the other two options, and they are often nicknamed ‘mini conservatories’. Also, lanterns let in more light than the other options, creating the illusion that the room is bigger and adds value to your home.

Roof windows can make an excellent addition to any room in your home. We highly recommend that you get a roof window fitted in a dingy, dark or small room, as it will flood in natural light which will help you save money on artificial lights as well as create the illusion of a larger room. Some popular places to install a roof window include kitchens, attics or lofts and bedrooms.

There are many benefits to investing in rooflights. One of the main benefits is that rooflights allow an abundance of natural light into your home. This reduces the need for artificial lights, which will help you to reduce your electricity bills. Additionally, natural light can help heat your home, reducing the need for central heating. More natural light in your home has wellbeing benefits such as elevated mood, increased sense of focus and more vitamin D.

In terms of appearance, rooflights can greatly upgrade your home. Rooflights will create the illusion of more space in your home, as well as add to the value of your home because rooflights are seen as a desirable element in homes.

Also, once you have placed your order, we can have your brand-new rooflight delivered to your door within 3-4 days.

Installing a rooflight is a relatively straightforward process, as long as you follow the instructions that come with the rooflight. However, if you have any issues or questions regarding installation, then get in touch with us. We have a knowledgeable and friendly team waiting to help you out.

The glass that we used for the rooflights we produce is of the highest quality and the standard is toughened glass. We offer rooflights as either double glazed which has a U-Value of 1.2w./m2 or triple glazed safety glass which has a U-Value of 0.7w/m2. There are other options to choose from like clear, solar and privacy glass.

The frame of the rooflights that we sell at TuffX is made out of thermally broken aluminium, which is powder coated in  Anthracite Grey (RAL 7016). However, if you would like a different colour, then get in touch and we can arrange for that as our rooflights are bespoke designs.

For rooflights you do not need planning permission. This is because rooflights tend to not overlook other people’s properties.

Roof windows can be installed on almost any type of roof, including pitched, flat and unconventionally designed roofs.

However, each manufacturer and type of roof window may have specific requirements and recommendations. At TuffX, our rooflights are designed to sit level with the tiles on your roof, so they can only be installed on flat roofs.

But there's no need to worry if your roof isn’t flat! You still have the option to incorporate a roof lantern or skylight into your property. They offer similar advantages to rooflights, adding architectural interest and increasing daylight levels.

While experienced DIY enthusiasts can install roof windows themselves, it is generally recommended to have them professionally installed.

Roof windows require precise installation to ensure proper fit, weatherproofing, and optimal performance.

Professional TuffX installers have the necessary expertise, tools, and experience to handle the complexities of roof window installation.

We will properly integrate them into the roof structure, ensure waterproofing and insulation, and comply with all UK building regulations.

Roof windows are energy-efficient when designed and installed correctly.

TuffX’s high-quality roof windows feature double or triple glazing and insulating frames to minimise heat transfer and improve energy efficiency.

With these features, you can reduce heat loss during the winter and limit heat gain throughout the summer.

When properly installed, roof windows can contribute to better thermal performance in your home, reduce energy consumption, and lower heating costs.

Proper maintenance and cleaning are essential to the longevity of your roof lights.

To keep them in optimal condition, check your roof windows periodically for any signs of damage, such as cracks, leaks, or deteriorating seals. Addressing these issues promptly can prevent further damage.

Remove any leaves, twigs, or other debris accumulating on the roof window and surrounding gutter system: this will prevent clogs and allow for proper water drainage.

Use a mild, non-abrasive glass cleaner and a soft cloth or sponge to clean the window panes. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that may scratch the glass or damage the frame.
