Rich shares his thoughts on a recent Infinity Rooflights Install, featured on his YouTube Channel

May 22, 2026

Rich runs a highly successful YouTube channel, designed to support building contractors by videoing honest and hands-on product reviews. In March 2026 Rich installed four Infinity Framed Rooflights at his Coach House refurbishment project, and shared his thoughts with us.

What made you set up a Youtube channel and start sharing your projects online?

I have been a long time watcher of YouTube and have been following certain channels for some time. When I went back onto the tools from management in 2021 I decided that it was something I wanted to try with no expectations. I am pleasantly surprised how much I enjoy making content and answering people questions.

The Coach House Refurb video showing the rooflight installation has already had more than 5000 views. Why do you think your videos are so popular?

I believe that I offer a genuine take on day to day construction where I show the mistakes as well as the triumphs. I talk through what I’m doing logically for people to understand and I think this helps people complete projects themselves if they wish plus because I explain everything it means that people without a trade or a different trade who just wish to watch can follow along and hopefully enjoy my content.

What would be your top tip for someone installing a rooflight for the first time?

Other than making sure you choose the right company to supply your roof light always make sure you know the upstand specification first before completing your roof construction and when measuring get someone else to check measure with you to confirm to eliminate costly mistakes.

What stands out to you about TuffX’s products?

I believe that Tuffx stands out for me for a few reasons and it’s not just the roof lights it’s the back office staff who I have spoken to for advice and clarification on specification for the upstands for example.  The delivery is well organised and you always know what time to expect your roof light which means I can organise the help I need to offload them. The roof lights are always well packaged and the manufacturing of them is very good which means that they are always well received by the customer and I can maintain the level of quality on my jobs with products I supply and fit.

The Key Takeaways for RICH were:

For contractors like Rich working on refurbishment and conversion projects, this coach house installation demonstrated what can be achieved with a well‑specified rooflight system and a responsive manufacturer – bespoke sizes and a hassle-free installation process, allowing the build schedule to stay on track.

  • Framed rooflights rely on the upstand more than anything else — the timber kerb must be built square, fully supported, and pitched at a minimum of 5° to shed water properly.
  • The thermally broken aluminium frame reduces cold bridging and condensation risk, so performance is designed in rather than corrected on site.
  • Correct sealing is part of the system, not a last-minute fix. Rely on proper detailing rather than excess silicon.
  • Fixed rooflights are largely fit-and-forget once installed correctly, with no moving parts to adjust or maintain and standard sizes are typically available within 3-5 working days.
