Padel Court manufacturers are specifying toughened safety glass, as it provides the strength & stability for a great game whilst improving safety by retaining all broken pieces when a breakage occurs, reducing the risk of injury to players or passing pedestrians. TuffX negate this risk even further by heat-soak treating each panel, which highlights any defects and removes them from the production process.

Unlike traditional glass, toughened glass is highly resistant to heat and can withstand heavy impacts. In the case of a fire, this adds an extra layer of safety, slightly slowing fire from spreading so residents have more time to exit the building.

Acoustics: It also provides excellent soundproofing, reducing noise transmission, making it ideal for indoor courts or courts in residential areas.

THE UK Padel Court MARKET

Padel is one of the fastest growing racket sports in the UK, by the end of 2025 the number of courts across the UK will exceed 1000 and it is still rapidly expanding. The court is enclosed by walls, which are an integral part of the game, as the ball is played off them. These walls are typically made from toughened or tempered glass, which provides the best and most predictable bounce, and is safe & durable.

According to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) 10mm or 12mm toughened glass is the preferred minimum specification for UK installations. TuffX supply only the thicker 12mm toughened safety glass.

What thickness does Padel Court Glass need to be?

The LTA specifies a minimum of 10-12mm thickness for Padel Court Glass. TuffX toughened glass is only supplied at 12mm.

What is toughened glass?

Tuffx toughened safety glass meets European Safety Standards and is situated in many different applications. Toughened safety glass is processed by subjecting panels of glass that are edge worked to a heating and cooling treatment whereby high compressive stresses are set up at the surfaces with balancing tensile stresses in the centre. The high compressive surface stresses that remain are what gives its increased strength.

How is it different from standard glass?

Toughened Safety Glass is up to five times stronger than non-toughened and because of its increased strength architects and builders worldwide can take architectural design much further, allowing a lot more natural light into their design whilst maintaining safety.
